 Each 3D package has advantages and disadvantages. While Max is adequate for character animation, it excels in gaming asset creation/animation, arch, and product. 

Maya, on the other hand, is a character animation specialist. Cinema4d is also excellent for motion graphics.

There is no such thing as the “best” 3D package. It’s just a tool.

 The “greatest” 3D product is the one that allows you to create the most efficiently. I’ve worked professionally in 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, and ZBrush.

 I was mainly a Max/Zbrush user for a long time before switching to Blender/Zbrush when my PC crashed during a job, and I had to transfer over to my mac (with no funds for additional 3d software) – and I haven’t looked back since.

I’ll also inform you that ZBrush is best used as a pipeline tool in its current iteration (4R6).

 It’s great for idea work (which you can subsequently retopologize in another 3D software) and adding detail to basic models made in other 3D tools. 

Even yet, things are changing quickly. ZBrush now has much-improved retopology tools, and some exciting new creative capabilities are on the way in ZBrush 4R7.

How Do I Import Models into Blender?
